Learn More About Puresport
THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, is the main psychoactive element of the cannabis plant. It is the agent primarily responsible for the “high” associated with the recreational use of cannabis. THC works partly by imitating the effects of neurotransmitters known as 2-AG and anandamide, which the body naturally produces. They help to control many bodily functions, such as eating and sleeping habits, and the body’s perception of pain.
Cannabidiol is one of the most critical cannabinoids contained in the cannabis plant. It exists both in agricultural hemp, as well as medical cannabis. While cannabinoids are present within several plants in nature, cannabis is the only plant known to contain CBD. CBD has the same chemical formula as THC, with the atoms in a different arrangement. This slight variance causes THC to create a psychoactive effect, while CBD does not. This fact means that when you ingest CBD for your own purposes, you will more likely experience a relief of your unwanted discomfort, with little or no noticeable effect on your cognitive abilities.
THC and CBD are the two most dominant cannabinoids found naturally in the plant Cannabis sativa, known most commonly as cannabis. These chemicals interact with cannabinoid receptors found in the human brain and body but their effects are dramatically different. CBD contains no psychoactive properties and will not give the user a “high”. Whereas THC, is a psychoactive drug, which will produce a sense of euphoria. With approval from WADA, CBD is now a legal substance but THC is illegal and its use would result in a failed drug test.
WADA is the World Anti-Doping Agency. An international agency formed in 1999 it is independent, with membership and funding shared between the global sports movement and world governments. Its main roles are to develop anti-doping capacities and monitor the World Anti-Doping Code (Code). This code is the document that harmonizes the anti-doping policies of sport throughout the world. WADA is committed to the funding of scientific research and using education to raise awareness of anti-doping issues. WADA’s mission is to lead a collaborative worldwide movement to see a world of sport free from doping.
Who tests your CBD for 0% THC?
The testing of our CBD is carried out by ADACT Medical Ltd.
What are their credentials?
The credentials of ADACT Medical Ltd are ISO 17025 CBD Testing.
What is the name of the testing unit?
The testing unit is an HPLC Machine.
How does the testing process work?
Firstly, each sample is logged. This is carried out anonymously. It is then shipped to the lab, where it is prepared to a standard operating procedure before being loaded into the testing machine. Once the results are processed, they are returned to the lab. The blind is broken and each test result matched to the appropriate sample. Test certificates are then issued and held on a CRF 21 FDA compliant database, which means that it is tamper proof.

In our bodies is a system called the endocannabinoid system, or ECS, which produces its own set of cannabinoids. The ECS is a complex network made up of receptors and neurotransmitters spread throughout the body. It is responsible for regulating some of the body’s many processes and functions. When it enters the bloodstream, studies suggest that CBD or other cannabinoids can influence the ECS. As a consequence, the ECS will either increase or decrease certain cannabinoids. By doing this, they may be able to relieve stress or reduce the amount of inflammation and pain in your body. In essence, they communicate with your body’s endocannabinoid system to help you to maintain your inner balance.
To maximise the benefits to your health, our advice would be to take CBD oil consistently, at a regular time. We recommend that you take CBD if you find your symptoms flaring up. Patients seem to gain the most benefit when they make CBD oil part of their daily routine. This could be either in the morning or at bed-time. Whichever way you find comfortable, we recommend taking a dose once or twice per day (both day and night). Please be sure to talk to your health care professional before starting a new health regime.
There is no definitive answer on the exact dosage you should take for a specific condition. It may simply be a case of trial and error to find what dose works best for you. Whatever you do, we recommend that you exercise caution to begin with. Try to start with a low dosage, taking a couple of drops each day. You should gradually increase how much you take until you feel a noticeable improvement in your symptoms. It may actually surprise you to find how little you need to take before you experience the benefits. Just take your time, by increasing or decreasing the dosage as necessary until you are comfortable. We would recommend that you talk to your health care professional before embarking on a new health care regime.
There are a number of ways that you can take CBD effectively. One of the quickest methods of introducing CBD into your body to relieve symptoms is by taking the oil as a tincture. For sudden, severe or chronic pain, you should find that tinctures will give you the best results. They should relieve pain speedily and are available in a higher concentration than other types of CBD product. We recommend discussing this with your healthcare professional before changing your health routine. Read more here on the duration of CBD products.
We have found that if we were to offer a cheaper range of CBD products, our customers would most likely purchase ineffective CBD oils. Cheaper oils do not necessarily produce the benefits they promise or bring relief from the symptoms of ongoing medical issues. In addition, some of our customers have found that a dosage as low as 250 mg won’t relieve their symptoms without doubling the dose. This also means that the product will not last as long. At Pure Sport CBD we only offer CBD oils that we believe will work quickly and provide relief from symptoms for longer.
We source our hemp from farms in Colorado, where organic, clean hemp can grow in some of the finest soils. Strict regulations are in place and the farms are fully licensed.
Every batch of oil that Pure Sport CBD produces undergoes testing by an independent laboratory. Testing is used to check for pesticides, contaminants, solvents or heavy metals. Test results are made available to our customers, so that you can buy our CBD oil with confidence.
There is a very low risk of suffering side effects but you must ensure that you take the correct dosage. Possible effects reported include:
- A dry mouth
- Feelings of drowsiness.
It is a good idea to make sure that you start with the lowest dose possible. This enables your body to adjust before you increase the levels of CBD. We advise that you should talk to your healthcare professional in the first instance.
Marijuana and hemp are both cannabis plants, however they differ in their composition. Marijuana, or Cannabis indica, contains high levels of THC and is illegal to buy or sell in the UK unless for lawful medical purposes. Hemp, or Cannabis sativa, on the other hand, has less than 0.3% THC. In addition to making CBD oil, it is used in the manufacture of food, paper and rope. Hemp plants used by Pure Sport CBD contain naturally high levels of CBD and very low levels of THC. We refine our oils further until they have no trace amount of THC.
CBD is no different whether it is taken from marijuana or hemp and this is true of all cannabinoids extracted from these plants. The difference is in the ratio of how the cannabinoids are consumed. Marijuana plants have high levels of THC and low levels of CBD. However, in hemp plants the reverse is true and there are high levels of CBD but low levels of THC. Your body will feel the effects from CBD in the same way, irrespective of whether it is an extract of marijuana or hemp. However, the therapeutic effects from the marijuana extract will not be as strong or long-lasting as oil made from the hemp plant. This is due to the higher concentration of CBD found in the hemp plant. The aromatic compounds found in hemp and marijuana are called terpenes and vary greatly between the two. There are even differences between individual varieties of the plants. Pure Sport’s CBD is made from a strain of hemp that contains high levels of terpenes. This means that we can produce strong, full spectrum CBD oils.
You will find that hemp seed oil bought locally is different to CBD hemp oil. It is worth taking time to research the product carefully and always make sure to read the label properly. This is particularly relevant for products advertised as being available over-the-counter or online without a prescription. CBD hemp oil is produced from the flowers of the hemp plant. Seeds do not feature in the process. Hemp seed oil is made differently, by cold pressing seeds taken from the hemp plant. The oil extracted from the seeds is particularly full of nutrients, such as trace minerals and amino acids. However, the oil contains no CBD, terpenes or any of the other naturally occurring cannabinoids normally found in hemp.
